Drilling water well for Dak Den Hamlet – Kon Tum

The year 2020 has just ended, we also end a year full of difficulties and challenges caused by epidemics and natural disasters. However, it is also the meaningful year that SEN Charity Fund has completed many charity projects, laying the foundation for a new year that will bring more meaningful and practical programs to the community.

One of the significant projects in 2020 is the completion of the construction of a toilet and a drilling well for Mang Rao primary school (belong to Vo Thi Sau main primary school), Dak Glei district – Kon Tum. The project has brought many practical benefits for teachers and students at the school as well as the surrounding residents have benefited from using water through the dry season.

Since this project, the principal of Vo Thi Sau primary school and the authorities of Dak Pet commune expressed their hope that SEN Charity Fund can continue to support the school and local residents on the clean water project to cope with shortage of water for daily use in this area.

According to the survey information at the end of 2020, Dak Den village – Dak Pet commune currently has about 315 households with 1,160 people, most of them are Gie Trieng ethnic minority. Income mainly comes from Agriculture (Rice, cassava, Litsea glusinosa tree, breeding). Compare with the regions that we surveyed, people here are aware of how to grow more crops and fruit trees to increase the quality of their daily meals. However, the fact that source of water for living and agriculture is largely dependent on nature, mostly taken from mountain streams, so that the lack of water in the dry season also significantly affects people’s lives.

After talking with the Principal and the Authorities, we decided to make a supporting plan to put the drilling well at Dak Den school to serve the benefit of the three parties including Dak Den primary school, Dak Den kindergarten and surrounding residents.

Primary school has about 73 students, 3 teachers with 3 classes and 01 toilet. The two-room for male and female toilet was built in 2018, but because there is no water, it is often locked and not used. The kindergarten opposite the primary school has about 28 children aged 3-4 and 03 teachers also suffer from a similar water shortage.

We will also donate more outdoor toys and storybooks to children in the hope that they can improve their current difficulties and bring a little joy to the children.
