As part of its mission to spread love by building safe and resilient schools, the SEN Charity Fund had the opportunity to visit Ho Bon Commune, Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province — a land rich in cultural heritage but still facing significant challenges, particularly in access to quality education
Hang A Kindergarten is located in Hang A Village, one of the most remote, isolated, and disadvantaged areas in the district. Situated more than 320 kilometers from Hanoi, the journey to the school is arduous, winding through steep, slippery mountain roads. Some sections even require people to manually dig and clear rocks to open a path. The village is home to 114 households, with 89 of them classified as poor. Notably, 100% of the residents belong to the H’Mong ethnic minority. The area still lacks access to the national electricity grid and a stable water supply system.
Since 2013, children in the village have only had access to one makeshift classroom and one borrowed room in the community house. These facilities are severely degraded, do not meet educational standards, and are unable to accommodate children under the age of three, despite the high demand for early education. Currently, the school can only serve 56 children aged 3 to 5, while the 2025 plan anticipates the need to support approximately 90 children between the ages of 1 and 5.
The SEN Charity Fund is proud to take this next step in supporting the dreams of the children of Hang A. With continued community support and shared compassion, we believe that no child should be left behind—no matter where they are born.

With a deep commitment to providing a safe, durable, and fully equipped learning environment for the children, the SEN Charity Fund has launched a plan to build a new campus for Hang A Preschool. The proposed design includes three classrooms, a kitchen, sanitation facilities, a playground, a perimeter fence, and educational equipment that meets national standards set by the Ministry of Education.
On May 16, 2025, the SEN team set out early in the morning, navigating winding mountain roads, steep slopes, and slippery, muddy terrain to reach Ho Bon Commune. In many areas, the team had to leave their vehicles to dig through soil, clear rocks, and cross shallow streams and muddy hills to arrive at the Hang A school site — where children are still learning in temporary tin-walled structures with extremely limited facilities.

The ground-breaking ceremony was held in a warm and heartfelt atmosphere, attended by teachers, local authorities, villagers, and the radiant smiles of the children — a powerful source of inspiration for continuing this journey of bringing education and clean water to the highlands.

The moment the first bricks were laid on this challenging terrain marked the beginning of a new chapter — a chapter filled with hope for a brighter future for the children of the mountains. SEN believes that education is the key to transforming lives, and that each school built today is a priceless gift for tomorrow. The road ahead may be long, but every step taken with love brings the light of knowledge to even the most remote communities. We wish the students here diligence and success in their studies, and send our deepest gratitude and best wishes to the dedicated teachers — may they continue to serve their schools and nurture future generations with health, strength, and unwavering dedication.
