Our Hearts to Central Vietnam

Every year, in the rainy season some provinces in central Vietnam had to face a lot of dangers, damages, and difficulties caused by the storm and flood.

In October and November 2020, a series of storms such as Linfa, Molave, Goni, Etau, and Vam Co hit the central regions caused serious flooding and landslides. Some areas located in lowlands or along the rivers and mountain areas in Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Quang Nam Province hit the hardest. The villagers had to stay up all night to relocate from their properties to safe places as the water level rose quickly. Loss of lives, properties, crops, and even become homeless or orphans after natural disasters make the residents hard to overcome and restore normal life like before.

With “Sharing love and connecting community” slogan, SEN charity team decided to give a hand in helping the victims of the disaster. Despite the bad weather or the roads broken seriously by the landslides and flood, we travelled to some areas effected to work with the local authorities and resident aim to find out the best way to help them the most effectively.

In some days of the end of the year 2020, SEN members already carried out programs in Quang Tri, Tra Leng, and Dai Loc as plan.

In Huc commune, Quang Tri province, Ms. Thuan – the teacher and local authorities were very enthusiastic to help us giving angpao directly to some poor households who damaged seriously by the natural disaster to repair their houses. Most of the residents are Van Kieu and Pa Co ethnic, have low income, mainly from doing agriculture. Children are honest and lovely. Infrastructure is poor, so we hope that we can return to this commune to consider helping them in the future if any.

In Tra Leng – Nam Tra My, we cooperated with a group of doctors and nurses from Da Nang C hospital to check-up the health for students in the secondary school. We also donated the essential food for school, angpao for teachers, angpao for students whose families affected seriously by the landslides. The students shared with us their story, their feeling, their fear, and insecurity when the disaster occurs. The way to get school so far, by foot and take 2 hours to get home and the most important is that M’nong children were often scared of the soil may erode at any time. Love them so much, and if have any chance, we can back to school to visit the students and the teachers here.

At the last point, we donated directly the angpao to 35 poor households in Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province. Most of them are the elderly who could not easily create income monthly so that they meet a lot of difficulties in their life. Our gifts will help them to buy seeds or poultry to overcome the difficulties from the natural disaster and welcome a new year happier.

After those meaningful trips, the message we would like to share with all of you is that “The more we give the more happiness we feel” and the New Year is coming, we wish you and your families health, peace and happiness always.
