First aid skills training at Do Dang Tuyen Highschool – Phu Thuan, Da Nang

In October, we visited Phu Thuan, a region situated downstream of the Vu Gia–Thu Bon river system, where the arrival of each rainy season brings with it concerns about flooding. In recent years, natural disasters have not only disrupted the daily lives of local residents but have also posed significant challenges to teaching and learning activities at local schools. Against this backdrop, equipping individuals with essential first aid knowledge and skills has become increasingly important, enabling teachers and students to respond more effectively to emergencies, protect themselves, and provide assistance to those around them.

With the aim of bringing these essential skills to the wider community, on October 24, 2026, SEN, in collaboration with Survival Skills Vietnam (SSVN), organized a first aid skills training programme at Do Dang Tuyen High School, Phu Thuan Commune, Da Nang, with the participation of 1,386 students, 68 teachers, representatives of the Parents’ Association, and staff from the local healthcare station.

Under the dedicated guidance of Mr. Tony Coffey and Ms. Trang Jena, two experts from SSVN,teachers and students were equipped with practical first aid knowledge and skills, covering how to manage various emergency situations, including drowning, choking and foreign body airway obstruction, stroke, burns, bleeding, and fractures, as well as hands-on practice in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and emergency response procedures. Through an engaging, hands-on approach that combined demonstrations, guidance, and practical exercises, the programme not only helped participants strengthen their knowledge but also enabled them to develop the composure, initiative, and confidence needed to respond effectively to unexpected emergencies in everyday life.

Memorable moments from the practical training sessions..

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bao, Principal of the school, highly appreciated the practical significance of the programme and expressed his hope that SEN Foundation and SSVN would continue their collaboration through more advanced training courses for the teaching staff in the future. He also extended his sincere gratitude to SEN Charity Foundation and SSVN for joining hands to deliver such a meaningful initiative, contributing to the wider dissemination of first aid knowledge and fostering a stronger sense of compassion and social responsibility within the community.

Representatives of SEN Foundation also expressed their sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and enthusiastic cooperation of the school’s Board of Management and the SSVN team, whose support played an important role in ensuring the programme’s success. Through this initiative, SEN hopes to continue sharing practical and meaningful values with the community, so that the knowledge imparted today may become a valuable resource for everyone, empowering individuals to protect themselves and provide others with a greater chance of survival.

Guided by the message, “Sharing First Aid Knowledge and Skills Today – Creating Opportunities to Protect Lives Tomorrow,” SEN Foundation hopes that the knowledge and skills shared through this programme will continue to spread throughout the community, becoming a meaningful resource that empowers individuals to care for, assist, and protect one another during difficult and critical moments. May these small yet meaningful contributions help nurture a safer, more compassionate, and caring community. SEN Foundation wishes all teachers, students, and members of the community good health, peace, and every success and happiness in life.
