For many children, having a playground with slides, swings, and seesaws is simply a normal part of childhood. However, at schools in remote mountainous areas, where facilities and resources remain limited, having a safe and well-equipped playground is a simple yet meaningful wish shared by children, teachers, and parents.
In Khao Mang Commune, Lao Cai Province, the satellite school sites of Khao Mang Kindergarten are located in a mountainous area where transportation and access remain challenging. Facilities for children’s education and care are still limited, particularly the lack of adequate spaces where children can play and engage in physical activities.
Understanding these challenges, SEN Charity launched the “Children’s Playground” Project, with the aim of building three playgrounds for children at three satellite school sites of Khao Mang Kindergarten.
Each playground was designed with age-appropriate facilities for preschool children, making use of environmentally friendly and recycled materials such as used tires. These materials were combined with basic playground equipment to create slides, swings, seesaws, and other play structures.
Beyond providing a safe and vibrant space for recreation, the project also aims to contribute to a more supportive environment where children can learn, play, develop physically, and interact with their friends.
After approximately one month of implementation and construction, the three playgrounds at Hang A, Trong La, and Hang De Chu school sites were officially completed.
The project now serves approximately 270 preschool children studying at the three school sites.
During the transportation of construction materials to the school sites, the project team faced numerous challenges due to the mountainous terrain and landslide-affected sections of the roads. With the support of local authorities, teachers, and parents, the materials were transported to the schools using various means of transportation. In some difficult sections, motorcycles had to be used to carry the materials piece by piece to the school sites.
Thanks to the collective efforts and support of the community, the project was successfully completed on schedule.
On September 21, 2026, as part of the new school year opening activities, SEN Charity, in cooperation with Khao Mang Kindergarten and local authorities, organized the Inauguration and Handover Ceremony for three children’s playgrounds at the three satellite school sites of Khao Mang Kindergarten in Khao Mang Commune, Lao Cai Province.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of SEN Charity, teachers, and students, who came together to celebrate the completion and official opening of the new playgrounds. On this occasion, 270 gift packages were also presented to children at the three school sites, bringing additional joy to the students at the beginning of the new school year.
The project is more than just an investment in school facilities. It is also a meaningful gift to children in remote mountainous areas, providing them with a new space to play, exercise, explore, and create beautiful childhood memories together.
