Phong Du Thuong commune is located on Van Yen district, Yen Bai province which is far from Hanoi centre 234km and about 5 hours by car. It is an extremely difficult mountainous commune of Van Yen district, and belongs to commune 135 (national poor commune), 50km from the district center, 96% of the commune’s population are ethnic minorities (mainly people are Dao, Tay, Mong) and most of them are poor and near-poor. The economy and main income of the people are agriculture and forestry.
With a large area of 19,820 hectares, more than 5,000 people, the commune is divided into 11 villages, the traffic faces to many difficulties, especially in the rainy season, especially in Khe Mang village, Khe Doc village and Khe Tau village.
Phong Du Thuong Kindergarten is located in the centre of Phong du Thuong Commune, with 7 auxiliary-kindergartens. 7 campuses are far from each other approximate 7-10 km, one of which Khe Det campus is the most difficult campus, far from the center and transport is difficult, mainly vehicles are motorbikes and bicycles. The road to Khe Det campus has to go through many streams. It is difficult to access this campus when it is in rainy season or in flood, especially this place haven’t had national electric system.
Khe Det auxiliary-kindergarten has 47 kids (from 3 to 5 years old) is divided into 2 classes and there are 2 teachers staying at this campus and only coming home on weekends because the teachers’ home is 60-80km from the school site. Due to the mountainous terrain, many students face to long distance to go to school (the most distant is 4.5km). Despite this, the parents and the teachers persisted with staying at school, going to class daily and teaching the students with all sincerity and enthusiasm.
In terms of facilities, Khe Det has 2 wooden classrooms since 2005 due to the contribution of local people whose roofs have been degraded, and taking advantage of 2 classrooms of primary schools, which have moved to become dining rooms and rooms. These rooms have been degraded severely, the walls are termite, damp in winter and hot in summer. The class does not have electricity, so the study relies mainly on natural light. The rooms of teachers built in wood since 1995 have been completely degraded, rotted, unsafe and under basic standards of living and teaching. Teachers and students share a degraded toilet, away from classrooms and school yards, which is always slippery when it rains, and water is taken from streams but often does not have enough, especially in the dry season.

After conducting surveys and analyzes, as well as working with local authorities and the school, Sen Charity decided to raise fund and build a new school for Khe Det Kindergarten to welcome the new school year. 2019-2020. The project includes construction of 2 new classrooms of 35m2 /class, toilet area including 04 toilets, 01 hand washing area and 02 rooms for teachers (each room is 15m2), 1 kitchen and 1 bathroom, water systems and solar power system.

During the constructed process, SEN Charity received a various of support from the parents who did not hesitate to support the construction of schools and accommodation for teachers. In addition, SEN Charity also received the support of benefactors who contributed to this project, with the amount VND 176,260,000 (Total project cost is VND 616,000,000).
