Building Khun Luon Bridge at Huu San commune – Ha Giang

Khuoi Luon village is classified as an especially poor village in the mountainous area of Huu San commune, which is also an especially poor commune of Bac Quang district, Ha Giang province. 100% local community belongs to ethnic minorities: H’mong, Dao, Tay. The local economy depends heavily on agricultural production and industrial tree planting, the general situation is very difficult.

The 5km road from the commune center to the village and all the roads in the village are mainly dirt roads, causing many difficulties for people to travel and transport agricultural and forestry products. Located in one of the communes with the highest number of rainy days in Vietnam (about 180 to 200 days / year), the village is often isolated due to tube floods, flash floods flow in the streams around the village. On such days, people cannot go to the fields to cultivate or bring agricultural products to sale, and pupils cannot cross the stream to go to school.

The biggest need and wish of both adults and children in the village at this time is a solid bridge across the stream for safer and more convenient transportation. However, due to the difficult economic conditions of the locality as well as the people, that wish has not been fulfilled for a long time.

Realizing the practical and urgent need of the people here, SEN Charity Fund decided to invest in building a solid overflow bridge, after considering the local terrain and water characteristics. The project is partly contributed by local budget in labor and materials, the rest is funded by SEN. We expect to start the project in March 2021 and complete by the end of June 2021, just before the rainy season.
