Following the inauguration of the Campaign in Cambodia, SEN team have implemented Matchstick Campaign in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city with 2 main activities – “Matchstick Scholarship” and “Lunch for Kids”. We hope the campaign will help orphaned children to have a better living standard and continue pursuing their vocational study.
Matchstick Scholarship
The fourth wave of Covid-19 that broke out from 27th April 2021, until now in Vietnam has greatly affected on economy and people’s life. It has claimed thousands of lives, forced thousand of children become orphans. They have suffered a lot of psychological and spiritual trauma and need sources of care, nurturing, and education.

There are 2,532 orphaned children who are the victim of Covid-19 pandemic. The sadness has been counted double as 81 children lost their fathers and mothers at the same time. More than ever, they need a special and long-term support for education, and living expense. Without the timely support, they might on the edge of exploitation, abuse, poverty, and violence.
In March 2022, SEN team conducted a survey among orphans in Ho Chi Minh city and Hanoi. We talked and listened to them to answer the question “How can we help them?”. We found out that the best environment for children’s development is living with their family, relatives, and their familiar community. However, it leads to financial burden on their relatives, guardians who are struggling for their own children and life. Therefore, SEN Charity creates a scholarship named “Matchstick” providing financial support to orphans to accompany them on their learning path as well as in living expense.
The scholarship is like a matchstick. When it burns, it will bring new hope to orphaned children. It is also our hope and our belief in positive outcomes for these strong-willed angels. It will focus on the following points:
- Education fee: Sponsor school fee (primary to high school, vocational school/college if necessary)
- Food & stay: Support monthly living fee.
- Psychological & Healthcare: Annual social insurance; provide training & psychological counseling to children to live independently.

Lunch for Kids
The main reason to encourage those lovely mountain kids to go to school is “eating free”. Now, they will find the way to school with full of fund, love and also ” full of stomach “.
