The southwestern region is characterized by a dense system of rivers and canals, so the construction of bridges to serve travel needs is very necessary. After a survey trip on January 2020, HCM team decided to build a Mieu Ba bridge in Hamlet 5, Thanh Loc Commune, Cai Lay District, Tien Giang province.

Thanh Loc Commune is 110km far from Ho Chi Minh city and it takes about 3hours by car. There are 6 Hamlet, more 12.000 people and 3000 families in which there have 70 poor families, 240 near poor families.
Hamlet 5 is a central hamlet of Thanh Loc commune divided by Cha La canal. People on both sides of the route are very difficult. In 2004, the people also tried to contribute to building a temporary bridge with 35m long, 1m wide to serve the traveling and transportation of people in the area as well as religious activities of the people because this is the only path leading to a Mieu Ba temple where people express their beliefs and pray for peace in life. Besides, on the East side of the bridge is Thanh Loc Primary School, the number of students crossing the bridge is very large.
Now, this bridge is seriously degraded. It was patched by temporary concrete slabs and it trembled as the vehicles across it. It is broken and unstable currently cause by boat hit, sloughed of cement, showed out iron frame. Moreover, the slope of the bridge is too high with the width is only 1m and the railing is low, the pupils just to walk on the bridge because of danger.

On the other hand, the life of the people here is still difficult, the main income from rice cultivation is very low and unstable, so the contribution to build the bridge is impossible. Understand that, HCM team planned to rebuild this bridge on May 2020 to serve the traveling needs of the people here.
