Typhoon Damrey, which was the twelfth typhoon to hit Việt Nam in November 2017, was the strongest one this year. It battered some of the poorest communities of the south-central coastal region. More than 130,000 homes were damaged, of which over 3,500 were destroyed. Dozens of displaced families have had to live in temporary and unsafe shelters.
Nong Son Town is one of poorest towns in Quang Nam Province. Heavy rainfall and floods in the following weeks after Typhoon caused great losses, particularly in Quang Nam Province, and Nong Son Town also.
On November 18th, on behalf of Microtec Company, Colleagues in Da Nang Office joined hand with a disaster relief program. We visited and gave gifts to 40 poor households that were damaged during the Typhoon in 4 communes of Phuoc Ninh, Que Lam, Que Trung, Que Ninh in Nong Son district, Quang Nam province.
Our team split into two groups, with the support of volunteers and local authorities, each group coming to visit, giving gifts and encouraging families to try and attain some stability in their life after the disaster.
