After the site inspection previously conducted in March 2021, Sen Charity noticed a serious deterioration in facilities at the Chieng San Primary School in Nong Luong Village, Chieng San Commune, Muong La, Son La Province, especially classrooms, playgrounds and washroom and toilet facilities were observed to be a poor condition. Local authorities were also concerned and desired to provide a good environment for teachers and students at the school but have experienced challenges relating to a lack of funding. Therefore, with the support of the community and with the aim of education development in mind, Sen Charity decided to fund and build new facilities and undertake a renovation project at the Chieng San Primary School.

Collaborating with SEN Charity, Local Authorities and Donors also generously helped as they could to provide funding for the project, although Sen Charity contributed the majority of financing for renovation and repair. The planned activities include building new toilets, renovating classrooms including the replacement of corrugated iron, repainting the school, repairing windows and main doors, upgrade of lighting systems, and installation of protective anti-flood measures. Additionally, donors have also contributed more than 100 sets of tables, chairs, and writing boards for the school. The local authority contributions ensure that important work including demolishing old facilities safely, digging a drainage canal, and concreting the schoolyard can be completed properly, with the local authorities playing an important role in ensuring legality, security, safety, and supervision of construction according to the blueprints.
With funding and plans in place, we now hope that the weather will prove favorable for the project to be completed within schedule at the expected high level of quality so that children and teachers will be able to joyfully start their new school year with the new facilities in place.
