Tan Phuc commune is in Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province, 110 km from Ho Chi Minh City and takes about 3 hours to ride. The typical weather here is sunny and windy, especially during the drought season, usually lasting from February to June every year. Through a survey in early January, the survey team made a preliminary assessment of this area such as trees on the two sides of the road are withered. The survey area is geographically located in an area of many reefs and extremely severe weather. Realizing that this limitation has impact on people living here, for example: most wells are dry, heavily alum contaminated and costly to drill deeply. Therefore, SEN Charity HCMC has implemented projects to drill wells for supplying clean water for people here and to build hand washing area for primary schools.
After more than 15 days of construction, the project was completed. On the morning of April 6, 2021, our team went to the school to celebrate the inauguration and officially hand over the project. The well is drilled to a depth of 145m, with a water pump capacity of 2m3/h, this facility is then expected to provide enough water for not only the primary school but also the households nearby, as the wells of the people living around the school have dried up. The water sample from this project was also tested at Pasteur Institute and met the standard, so pupils and households can completely feel safe for use. In addition, the hand washing area with the well-suitable design for elementary school pupils has also been built according to the standard of anti-slip floor to ensure safety, cleanliness and convenience for pupils.
On the occasion of the inauguration, SEN Charity also presented small gifts such as cakes, sweets and milk boxes to pupils and gave sports equipment, books to the library school. After understanding that pupils are lacking physical caring due to both teachers and pupils’ difficult circumstances, so we participated in sponsoring medicine for the school’s deworming program. In this project, along with the SEN Charity, there was a special sponsorship from Solar INS. They donated 5 bicycles to disadvantaged children and provided solar lights to help households safely coming in the late afternoon to collect water.
Thanks to the attention and sharing of love, everyone was very happy and excited, they all wanted to express their gratitude and wishes to SEN Charity as well as Solar INS for getting more success in the future. Hopefully this project will help people improving their lives during the drought season.
Total budget for this project is USD 8.232.
