On April 28th, 2021, SEN Charity and the Women’s Union of Quang Son commune organized a training course for ethnic farmers to classify organic waste and transform it into microbiological organic fertilizer. We were proud to introduce Ms. Bui Thi Thu Ha, Head of the Microbiology Department from the Vietnam National University of Agriculture, who led the training.
During the training, farmers were introduced to the concepts and practicalities of sorting garbage into organic and inorganic categories, and then demonstrating the process of conversion of the organic garbage into organic fertilizers. Applying this process is expected to increase productivity and quality of crops, as well as assist in environmental protection.
In participating, the farmers gained new knowledge about how to produce high-quality fertilizers from natural organic waste and byproducts, through the process of composting the waste with effective microorganisms (EMIC), creating a renewable and plentiful source of fertilizer for agricultural production, and reducing their reliance on chemical fertilizers.
In addition to running the training course, SEN Charity were pleased to provide a number of special gifts to 20 households with difficult circumstances and also small gifts to the 100 farmers who had participated in the training. SEN Charity hopes that this activity also contributed to an improved awareness of environmental protection and further local collaboration to increase rural development.
