Sponsor Desk and Playground for Dong Tam Primary School

When referring to the hamlet of “Nam Tang” in the Dak Mil district, we first think of a highly mountainous area in Dak Nong province in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The area itself experiences many difficulties and suffers from a lack of facilities and development. More than ever before, the people who inhabit Nam Tang require help from the broader community, especially the children in order to help provide them with basic educational materials and facilities. Because of this situation, SEN travelled went to this remote and challenging area in order to help bring a little happiness and love to the community here.

The journey was arduous and about half way, the SEN party had to leave the car and walk the remaining distance to the hamlet because a bridge had collapsed due to heavy rain encountered during the previous night.

The road to school is of low quality, and challenging to traverse.

Recent heavy rainfall has destroyed the bridge on the road to the school.

The road is a red dirt track, becoming very muddy and difficult to negotiate after heavy rain.

SEN have prepared new desks and chairs for the preschool in order to provide children with a better study environment, and a basketball court so that the high school students can have an after-school playground and more social life. In addition the party bought small gifts for all 500 students of the school.

Although these gifts are meagre compared to maintenance of the childrens’ essential needs of life in Nam Tang, they are meaningful and we hope they will contribute positively to their future by being a source of motivation and encouragement for the children, and aid in a small way their opportunity to work harder and study better.

At the end of the gift giving session, Mr. Huan, Principal of Nguyen Khuyen Junior High School, offered his deep and sincere thanks to SEN charity and the Team company for their wonderful support. He expressed his hope that there will be further practical and meaningful programs in the future for the community of Nam Tang hamlet.

After a heart-warming session sharing gifts and meeting the students and staff at the school, the moment of farewell arrived and the team said goodbye and began the difficult journey to return. On the way back, there was a period of reflection on the peace and tranquil feeling of Nam Tang, combined with a respect and love for the people there, understanding the difficult lives of the upland children, and with a strong determination to continue the work to help provide them and their community with the chance of a bright future.
