Son Hai primary and secondary school is one of the schools of Son Ha mountainous district, Quang Ngai province, about 200km far away from Danang city. Most of students here are Hre ethnic. There are 321 students from 01st-05th grade, but there no toilet for them to use, so that they must relieve themselves in the forest behind the school or using the one of total of 194 students from 06th-09th grade which is placed distance about 200m from their classrooms.
Son Hai Primary and Secondary school is located at Ta Mat, Son Ha, Son Hai District, Quang Ngai Province. The school is one of the poor remote schools built in 2008 in Quang Ngai province, it can be seen that the basic facilities here are getting downgraded. Although the Headmaster did ask the local Government for further educational budget, they have been still waiting for the final answer so far.
We first visited this place on a sunny day in May, when the students started to have summer break. Mr. Nam, the headmaster, was pleasant to welcome us and expressed their wish to have a Toilet area for nearly 321 primary students. In fact, during study time, they have to go to toilet in the forest behind or in 250m-away-secondary area.
After discussion with the Headmaster and BOD, we agreed that the most imperative concern is a new toilet for those primary pupils. Therefore, with the hope to improve the study environment here, we decided to carry out the project building toilet block for Son Hai primary school.
After nearly 2 months of construction, Toilet block for Son Hai primary school including 09 toilets, 01 pee area and 01 washing area has been completed before the school open day. Together with the main sponsor from SEN fund, we received a lot of charitable donations from sponsors for this project. Moreover, the constructor also gave additional support by installing the water tower with pump as well as repainting an old toilet block of Son Hai secondary school. We do appreciate all the helps and valuable supports from everyone.
On 26 Aug 19, we handed over the new toilet block to the school with the presence of school’s representatives and the constructor. On that day, the students gathered at school to start a new school year, so we organized a small sweet party for them with candy and biscuit. The construction has been finished tidy and decently, ready for a new school year. We are very happy and glad that from now, these lovely students can have a clean and safe place for their daily necessities.
The Headmaster and teachers expressed their sincere thank to Sen Fund and Microtec family, together with the students, he promised to always take care and keep the construction in good condition. We hope that this reliable project can give a hand to the teaching environment here.
On this day, we also visited and gave gifts to the poor family including 11 children and the Mother that we had visited before. Along with foods such as rice, dried fish, sauce, salt, instant noodles, sweets, and daily necessities like electric fan, blankets, etc. prepared by Microtec representatives; the Sponsors, Contractor and the Vice Headmaster donated angpaos, and some gifts for the family too. Looking the happiness of the children’s eyes, we felt touched and really hope that these gifts may support their daily life during study time of 4 pupils learning at Son Hai School.
Good bye the school and family, Da Nang team came back with little joy. Through this project, we hope to receive more attention and care from donators and supporters so that the Sen fund can have more and more meaningful charity project for the community in the future.
