While in Ho Chi Minh City, “Matchstick” focuses on the children being left behind with sad stories after the Covid pandemic; in Hanoi, the fund focuses more on high school pupils and university, college students. At the threshold of adulthood, these young people are already facing so many concerns and carrying large burdens of life on their shoulders.
Thuy Quynh Received Matchstick Scholarship from SEN
So far, SEN has surveyed and selected 3 young students in Hanoi & Thai Binh and 3 from Lao Cai province to award the scholarships. All of them have academic achievements ranging from good to excellent, and especially have the determination to pursue an academic study towards a bright future.
The latest student to receive the scholarship is Thuy Quynh, a petite girl from Thai Binh. She is a third-year student from the University of Commerce with excellent academic results. Few people know that her family had a serious incident when her father had an accident during the peak time of Covid epidemic. After that, he has not been able to return work, leaving the family’s economic burden to her mother. With a modest salary, her mother has to cover living expenses for the family, medicine for her father, and school expenses for Quynh and her two younger brothers. That pressure has encouraged Quynh to study hard to win a scholarship, besides saving money and work part-time to serve the basic expenses. Between classes in the lecture hall and part-time shifts, Quynh still managed to self-study Korean and attend online skill courses.

After all, no difficulties can take away the bright smile on the courageous girl, especially now that she has got SEN’s companion. SEN commits to support Quynh with her tuition fee and living expense for the remainder of her university studies. We hope that Quynh will attain a bright future, achieve her dreams and become SEN’s ambassador, who accompanies SEN to help more young people in difficulties, and who sets a bright example for them to go on.
