Kitchen Renovations and Medical Checkups at the Hiep Duc Nursing Home

The Hiep Duc Nursing Home (Tan Binh town, Hiep Duc distrist, Quang Nam province) was founded in 2009 through Miss Nguyen Thi Loi’s kind passion and commitment to the project. Along with her inclination to empathise with elders, Miss Loi and her family founded the home as a place where elders would share a home under one roof in the Hiep Duc area. Through their efforts, the home was able to evolve to house nearly 40 elderly people, with the help of financial support from companies, charitable organisations and sponsors.

With a mission to “Spread love – Foster community teamwork”, the SEN charity fund will continue to work towards our mission to extend hope and care towards such organisations as this nursing home. After visiting and surveying the nursing home, we decided to sponsor the medical checkups and bills, as well as a kitchen and dining area renovation so we can ensure a healthy and clean environment for our elders. This project began in the month of May 2020 and was completed in the beginning of July 2020.

With the sincere support of Hospital C in Da Nang, on the 6th of July, 2020, SEN visited the nursing home alongside doctors from Hospital C to do medical checkups and distribute medicine to the elders at the home. The medical checkups were useful, professionally carried out and respectful; each doctor asked the appropriate questions needed to help and separated to each private rooms to examine for the elderly who have some difficult moving. We at SEN are deeply warmed and touched by the kind eyes and smiles of all the elders who were happy and thankful to get medical checkups and small gift bags prepared by us.

After the project, the elders are happy as they have been gifted with a spacious and clean kitchen/dining area along with medical checkups to ease their mind of any health concerns. Following the opening ceremony, the elders enjoyed a hearty lunch at the new and improved kitchen/dining area, where everything was organised to ensure a joyful and celebratory meal. The SEN charity fund also took this opportunity to gift numerous kitchen appliances to the nursing home, which consisted a new fridge, freezer and boiler. We hope these gifts will be of great use for the care and living conditions of the elders everyday.

Miss Loi expressed her message of sincere thankfulness towards the SEN charity fund, Microtec and group of doctors from Hospital C in Da Nang. Looking at the faces of the elders, Miss Loi expressed her gratefulness from the bottom of her heart and promised to maintain the newly renovated facilities and gifted appliances. She hopes that from now on, each mealtime at the nursing home will be delicious and create lasting happy memories for the peaceful elders.

After the opening ceremony and distribution of gift bags, the SEN team went back on the road to return to Da Nang. Despite the hot sun shining brightly in the sky, everyone in the team went home with a small yet prideful smile on their faces, as we understood through this experience that “To give love is to love forever”.
