Chieng San Commune is located in Muong La District, Son La Province and it is about 320 km far from Hanoi, which takes 7 hours by cars. Being an extremely difficult mountainous commune of Muong La District, Chieng San Commune is 20km away from the District center, the population is nearly 90% are ethnic minorities (mainly Thai) and most of them are poor. The economy and main income of the people are agriculture, afforestation and crops.
Hoa Hong Kindergarten is built in Chieng San Commune, with the purpose of teaching children from 3 to 5 years old. The kindergarten has 7 branches, the distance between the schools is about 5-8km, in which the kindergarten of Nong village is the most difficult, which located far from the center, difficulty traffic, especially in rain, floods, soil while stones from both sides of the road are eroded so the vehicles cannot move through.

The kindergarten of Nong village has 49 pupils (aged 3-5), divided into 2 classes and taught by 2 teachers: Mrs. Anh and Mrs. Dung. Mrs. Anh’s house is 2 km far from the school, meanwhile Mrs. Dung has a house in the town, which 13 km from the school, hence she goes to work by motorbike daily. Because of the distance between villages, as well as the fact that the pupil’s parents work far away from the village, all pupils live in Nong village, and it takes them 5-10 minutes to walk to the school.
In terms of facilities, Hoa Hong Kindergarten of Nong village has 2 classrooms and 1 old toilet, located on an area of 1,346m2, built of wood, surrounded by canvas, and they are donated by charitable groups. Rainy days as well as intense sunlight, the class emits a musty smell, stifling, inconvenient and affecting the health of pupils and teachers. Old and Moldy toilets are not clean enough for them to go to the toilet, so they have to go to the toilet in a bucket, which is very inconvenient.

After conducting surveys and analyzis, as well as working with local authorities and the school, SEN Charity decided to raise funds and build a new school for the Nong school site to welcome the new school year of 2019-2020. The project includes construction of 2 new classrooms (35m2 per classroom), 04 toilets, 01 hand washing area and 01 teacher room (15m2), water system and flower garden in the front yard.

During the construction process, SEN Charity received the support of the villagers and pupils’ parents, they took lots of effort to support the construction of the new school. The project was smoothly implemented from May to August 2019, completed and handovered to teachers and students on September 4, 2019.
